Overview

PT-141, also known as Bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide and an analog of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). It acts as a non-selective agonist of melanocortin receptors, with affinity for MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R. PT-141 is derived from Melanotan II and differs structurally by the removal of the C-terminal amide group and cyclization via a lactam bridge.
